Mountains and National Parks

Abruzzo is dominated by the central Apennine range, including the Gran Sasso and Maiella massifs, and is renowned for the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park, a wild refuge for bears, wolves and chamois.

Coast and Climate

The region's Adriatic shoreline alternates long sandy beaches in the north with the Costa dei Trabocchi, where old timber fishing platforms reach out over the sea.

Culture and Cuisine

Hilltop towns, medieval abbeys and a hearty food tradition built on lamb, saffron from Navelli and Montepulciano wine give Abruzzo a strong rural identity.
