Ecuador is strategically located on the equatorial line of South America, bordering Colombia to the north, Peru to the south and east, and the Pacific Ocean to the west. Its privileged geographical position grants it exceptional climatic diversity and four clearly differentiated natural regions: the Coast, the Highlands, the Amazon Orient, and the Insular region.

Notable Features

The country is globally renowned for hosting the Galápagos Islands, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Natural Site, where Charles Darwin developed his theory of evolution. The capital city, Quito, situated at over 2,800 meters above sea level, preserves one of the best-preserved colonial historic centers in Latin America, also recognized as a World Heritage Site.
