This live webcam overlooks Passo Lanciano, a mountain saddle sitting at roughly 1340 metres on the northern flank of the Maiella massif. A serpentine road curves across the foreground, framed by dense conifers and the forested ridge that rises steadily into the heart of the range.

Seasons on the Mountain

The pass is the gateway to the Passolanciano-Maielletta ski area, so the winter slopes draw skiers to the lifts just out of frame. In the warmer months the same terrain turns green, welcoming hikers and cyclists onto the trails that fan out from the pass.

Passo Lanciano lies in the municipality of Pretoro, in the Province of Chieti within Italy's Abruzzo region, deep in the central Apennines. It is one of the best-known mountain crossings in the area and a popular base for exploring the surrounding peaks.
