Location and Geography

Lapland extends across the northernmost reaches of Finland, covering approximately one-third of the national territory and constituting the country's largest region. This vast Arctic region borders Sweden, Norway, and Russia, characterized by its endless boreal forests, Arctic tundra, and numerous glacial lakes.

Notable Features

The region houses some of Finland's most important ski resorts, such as Levi and Ylläs, while also being home to the traditional Sami people and their activities like reindeer herding. Its pristine national parks protect unique ecosystems of the Arctic Circle, including the renowned Urho Kekkonen National Park.
