The Teno River and the Border with Norway

The camera overlooks the broad, slow-moving Teno River (Tana), one of Europe's great salmon rivers, which traces the frontier between Finland and Norway. Its calm waters mirror the surrounding fells and the vast open Arctic sky.

Lapland's Northernmost Village

Utsjoki is the most northerly municipality in Finland and a heartland of the Sámi people and their living culture. Scattered homesteads, birch woodland and the surrounding treeless fells give the view its distinctly remote, far-northern character.

Aurora and the Polar Skies

Pointed at a wide, unobstructed horizon, this feed is prized for the aurora borealis, the season for which runs from late August to mid-April. In summer the same sky carries the unbroken daylight of the high-latitude polar period.
