A gateway to the Juhyo
The Juhyo Kogen Station sits at the mid-point of the Zao Ropeway, the aerial lift that carries visitors up Mount Zao in Yamagata. From here the cabins continue toward the summit, where the mountain's legendary snow monsters form each winter as wind-driven moisture freezes onto the fir trees.
The Zao Ropeway
Operated on the flanks of the Zao mountain range, the ropeway links the resort village with the high slopes. The camera captures the rugged station architecture and the ever-shifting mountain backdrop that defines this stretch of the aerial line.
An iconic alpine resort
Zao Onsen is among Japan's most celebrated ski and hot-spring destinations, drawing travelers to its expansive pistes, hot baths and the surreal ice-clad forests of the upper mountain.
Around the station
The surrounding Yamagata highlands offer hiking trails, forested ridges and panoramic vistas across the volcanic terrain of the Zao massif, making the station a hub for year-round mountain activity.
