The Gateway to Zao Onsen
The Kaminodai area is the bustling arrival point for visitors to Zao Onsen, where the parking lot serves as a threshold between the village streets and the slopes above. Cars, shuttle buses, and travelers converge here before setting off toward the ropeways and trails.
A Historic Mountain Resort
Perched in the Zao mountain range of Yamagata, this resort blends centuries-old hot-spring bathing culture with world-class winter recreation. The surrounding lodges and inns give the scene its distinctive alpine village character.
The Living Village Rhythm
Beyond the parking area, the camera reveals the layered rooftops and street lamps of the settlement climbing the hillside. It is a candid window into daily life at one of northern Japan's premier highland retreats.
