A Historic Bohemian Square

Rýchorské náměstí is the dignified centrepiece of Žacléř, a small town near the Polish border in the Krkonoše (Giant Mountains) region. The square's long, gently sloping expanse is lined with colourful burgher houses that recall the town's centuries as a mining and weaving community.

Landmarks of the Plaza

At the heart of the square stands an ornate baroque Marian (plague) column, a votive monument typical of Central European towns, alongside a carved stone fountain. The pastel town hall and neighbouring civic buildings give the plaza its distinctly Central Bohemian character.

A Mountain Gateway

Žacléř sits beneath the wooded Rýchory ridge, a quieter eastern corner of the Krkonoše favoured by hikers and cyclists. The forested hillside rising behind the rooftops is a constant green backdrop to the townscape.
