Railway Tracks at the Mon Valley Works

An Industrial Rail Corridor

The camera looks along a curving stretch of railway track that serves the sprawling U. S. Steel Mon Valley Works in West Mifflin. These lines have long carried raw materials and finished steel through the valley, and the single track here threads quietly between steep wooded slopes.

Pipeline & Infrastructure

In the foreground a natural-gas pipeline and its painted valve assembly cross beside the rail bed, a reminder of the layered industrial infrastructure woven through this part of the Monongahela corridor.

A Wooded Riverside Setting
