A River-Backed Eagle Nest
This live camera looks out on a bald eagle nest built in a towering sycamore along the banks of the Monongahela River, on the grounds of the U. S. Steel Mon Valley WorksโIrvin Plant in West Mifflin. The wide river view that fills the background sets this second-angle feed apart from the nest's companion cameras.
The USS Nest and Its History
Built in 2019, this nesting site has fledged eaglets across multiple seasons and is monitored under a special educational permit from the Pennsylvania Game Commission. The pan-tilt-zoom camera with infrared illuminators keeps the nest in view around the clock.
Wildlife on the Monongahela
Beyond the eagles, the wooded riverbank hosts a lively cast of songbirds, waterfowl and other native wildlife. The slow industrial river and its leafy shoreline make this a quietly compelling nature window in the heart of the Pittsburgh region.
