Everything you need to know about this live stream
The Nordic Centre Planica
The camera looks out over the Nordic Centre Planica, a state-of-the-art complex of ski-jumping and ski-flying hills, cross-country tracks and a wind tunnel built into the valley floor. The modern grandstand and the row of jump towers make it one of the most recognisable winter-sports arenas in the Alps.
A Valley Framed by the Julian Alps
Planica sits at the head of a glacial valley in the far north-west of Slovenia, hemmed in by the steep limestone walls of the Julian Alps. Forested slopes, open meadows and the rocky summit of Ponca tower over the centre, with the Italian and Austrian frontiers only a short distance away.
Home of Ski Flying
Planica is famous worldwide as the birthplace of ski flying and the site of numerous world distance records. Each season it hosts the FIS Ski Flying World Cup finals, drawing huge crowds to the Letalnica giant hill for one of the sport's grandest spectacles.
An Outdoor Hub Year-Round
Beyond competition, the valley is a year-round outdoor playground. Hikers, cyclists and cross-country skiers use its trails and meadows, while the visitor centre and panoramic terraces make Planica a popular gateway to Triglav National Park.
