A Jewel of the Julian Alps
Lake Jasna sits where the Pišnica and Velika Pišnica streams meet, just south of Kranjska Gora. Its two interconnected basins are famed for vivid turquoise water that mirrors the surrounding mountains.
The Zlatorog Legend
On the shoreline stands the gilded statue of the Zlatorog, the mythical golden-horned chamois of Slovenian folklore. The graceful figure has become one of the most photographed landmarks in the valley.
Recreation by the Water
A gentle pebble beach and shallow shoreline make the lake a favourite spot for swimming, paddling and lakeside walks, while benches and a small café terrace line the bank.
Gateway to the High Peaks
Behind the lake the road climbs toward the Vršič Pass, the highest mountain pass in Slovenia, framing the scene with steep forested ridges and limestone summits of Triglav National Park.
