Alpine Valleys

In the far northwest, Kranjska Gora lies where Slovenia meets Austria and Italy, beneath the north faces of the Julian Alps. Its cameras watch the ski runs, the town square and Lake Jasna, and the valley of nearby Planica, where some of the longest ski jumps ever recorded were flown. Further east, the high valley of Jezersko sits under the walls of the Kamnik–Savinja Alps.

Storks and Bird Feeders

Kranj, built on a rock spur above the Sava and Kokra rivers, is the region's main town. White storks nest in the villages around it, at Cerklje na Gorenjskem, Šutna and Olševek, and bird feeders in Kranj and near Grosuplje draw blue tits and crested tits through the winter.

Weather from Two Seas of Air

Mediterranean and alpine air meet over the country, so a bright morning can turn into a mountain thunderstorm by afternoon. In winter, fog often fills the basins around Ljubljana while the peaks above stand in full sun, a contrast the higher cameras show well.
