The Great Eddy Covered Bridge
Also known as the Village or Big Eddy bridge, this historic lattice-truss span carries Bridge Street across the Mad River in the heart of Waitsfield. Its rust-red plank siding and shingled roof shelter a single lane still open to traffic, a rare working survivor of Vermont's covered-bridge heritage.
The Mad River
Below the deck, the clear Mad River tumbles over a boulder-strewn bed, forming the deep pool that gives the bridge its name. The river is a favorite for anglers, paddlers, and swimmers drawn to its refreshing mountain waters.
The Green Mountains Setting
The camera looks out across a lush ribbon of riverside trees toward the rolling ridgelines of Vermont's Green Mountains, a backdrop that shifts from deep green to brilliant foliage as the seasons turn.
Village of Waitsfield
Set beside the historic village center, the view captures the relaxed rhythm of a classic Mad River Valley town near the Sugarbush and Mad River Glen ski areas, a hub for outdoor recreation year-round.
