About This Webcam
Everything you need to know about this live stream
A Historic Cooperative Ski Area
Mad River Glen opened in 1948 with the famous Single Chair lift and became America's first skier-owned mountain in 1995, when local skiers formed a cooperative to purchase it from its longtime owner. In 2012 it earned a place on the National Register of Historic Places, one of only a handful of ski areas to hold that distinction.
The Birdcage Camera
Mounted at roughly 2,900 feet above sea level and powered by solar energy with stored backup power, this fully articulating camera looks out over the Birdcage building, its deck, and the surrounding slopes of General Stark Mountain.
Stark Mountain and the Mad River Valley
The resort sits above the Mad River Valley in central Vermont, offering sweeping views across the valley toward the ridgelines that define this corner of the Green Mountains.
A Skier-First Philosophy
True to its motto that "sport takes precedence over profit," Mad River Glen has preserved much of its old-school character, from narrow, natural trails to the cooperative structure that keeps the mountain in the hands of the people who ski it.
