A Gateway to the Majella
Campo di Giove sits at the foot of the Majella massif, one of the highest and wildest ranges of the central Apennines. This camera captures the base station of the resort's chairlift, the threshold where skiers and hikers set off toward the high peaks above the village.
The Ski Area
At 1,150 metres, the lift system climbs the slopes of Monte Porrara and the wider Majella, serving a network of alpine pistes that draw visitors from across Abruzzo and beyond. The ticket booth and lift machinery in view are the working heart of the resort.
Mountains and Wildlife
The surrounding terrain lies within the Majella National Park, a protected wilderness of beech forest, limestone ridges and rare fauna including the Apennine wolf and the Marsican brown bear. The forested mountainside behind the lift forms part of this remarkable ecosystem.
