Baron Blue and Baroness Barfoot

The nest belongs to Baron Blue and Baroness Barfoot, a resident pair of white-tailed eagles — Europe's largest bird of prey, with a wingspan that can exceed two metres. Their seasons of courtship, incubation and chick-rearing have drawn a worldwide following.

The Island of Smøla

The eyrie sits on Smøla, a low, lake-dotted archipelago off the coast of Møre og Romsdal in western Norway. Its mosaic of sheltered inlets, granite skerries and wind-shaped pine supports nowhere a higher density of sea eagles on Earth.
