About #MauriennisezVous
Who #MauriennisezVous is
#MauriennisezVous is a volunteer-run association under the French law of 1901, based in the Maurienne valley in Savoie, in the French Alps. Its purpose is to keep the valley's living heritage visible: it produces podcasts and videos, organises local gatherings and tells the stories of the people and places of the Maurienne, also under its MAUZ brand.
Its webcam network
The association builds panoramic webcams paired with connected weather stations. It runs three cameras: one in the village centre of Jarrier, next to a Davis Vantage Pro2 station; one at Montpascal, next to an Ecowitt station; and one at the Col du Chaussy, at 1,540 m, which looks over alpine pastures, the Espace Grand Coin and the hairpin bends of the Lacets de Montvernier, a road climb known to cycling fans from the Tour de France.
How its streams are delivered
The cameras stream in HD from the association's own server, as HLS video, and are also broadcast on its YouTube channel, MAUZ. On GeoWebcams its cameras play straight from that source. The temperature, wind and snow readings that go with each camera are published on the association's own live page.
What its cameras are useful for
Together they give a live view of weather and snow conditions in the middle Maurienne, from the valley villages up to the high pastures: useful for hikers, skiers and cyclists planning a day in the valley, and for anyone who simply wants to see the mountains above Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne.
