A Thatched-Roof Railway Landmark
Yunokamionsen Station is one of the very few Japanese train stations still crowned by a traditional kayabuki thatched roof. The camera frames the timber station house, the platform lamps and the curving single-track line, capturing an image of rural railway heritage that has all but vanished elsewhere in the country.
The Aizu Railway in Motion
Trains of the Aizu Railway and through services from Tokyo glide past on their way through the mountains of southern Fukushima. Railfans can watch each arrival, the signal lights along the track and the unhurried rhythm of a rural branch line at work.
A Hot-Spring Valley Setting
The station serves the celebrated Yunokami Onsen hot springs, tucked into a forested river valley in the Aizu highlands. Surrounding woodland, distant ridges and traditional buildings frame a scene that shifts with cherry blossom, deep green foliage and autumn colour through the year.
Views Across the Seasons
Operated by the town of Shimogo, this feed showcases one of the region's most photogenic corners. From spring blossom along the platform to snow gathering on the thatch, the camera offers a living portrait of a heritage station at the heart of the Aizu countryside.
