The Underwater Vantage
This camera sits below the waterline of the aquarium's penguin pool, offering a rare diver's-eye perspective of Magellanic penguins in motion. Above the surface these seabirds look ungainly, but submerged they become agile swimmers, using their wings as flippers to fly through the water in pursuit of one another.
A Colony from Patagonia
The Magellanic penguins on view trace their lineage to the rocky coasts of Argentina and Chile. The exhibit recreates their temperate southern-hemisphere shoreline, with rock ledges for resting and a deep saltwater channel that lets visitors watch them both ashore and in full underwater flight.
Inside the Aquarium of the Pacific
The Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach is one of the largest aquariums in the United States, dedicated to the waters of the Pacific Ocean. Its penguin habitat is a signature exhibit, and this underwater feed lets a global audience share the same vantage as the divers who care for the colony.
