A Rehabilitation Jungle Gym

This specialized enclosure works as a jungle gym for sloths in rehabilitation. A network of horizontal poles, sturdy branches and ropes lets the animals climb, balance and develop the muscles essential for arboreal life. The structure recreates the three-dimensional canopy a wild sloth must master.

Saving Sloths Together

The camera is part of the Saving Sloths Together program, a joint initiative between the Toucan Rescue Ranch and The Sloth Institute Costa Rica. It captures the rehabilitation phase, where orphaned and injured sloths learn the survival skills required to be returned to the wild.

A Tropical Garden Setting

The playground sits within a verdant garden framed by tropical vegetation, flowering shrubs and a wooded backdrop typical of Costa Rica's Central Valley. Caretakers can often be seen tending to the resident animals.

Witnessing Rewilding

Viewers watch a meaningful conservation story unfold: rescued sloths graduating from Sloth Preschool toward independence. Each climb is a step closer to their eventual release back into the rainforest.
