A Flower-Growing Village by the Sea

Shiramazu is a small farming community within Minamiboso, on the tip of the Boso Peninsula in Chiba Prefecture. Its terraced fields are cultivated for commercial flower growing, a local tradition that has shaped the landscape into a patchwork of open plots framed by the sea.

Coastal Backdrop

Beyond the fields, the Pacific Ocean stretches to the horizon, with rocky shoreline and breaking surf visible along the coast road. Utility poles and a scattering of houses trace the edge of the village between the farmland and the water.

A Working Rural Landscape

Unlike a manicured tourist garden, this is a working agricultural landscape — the camera captures everyday life in a coastal Japanese farming town, from the crossing where the road meets the fields to the greenhouses and sheds dotted among the plots.
