Everything you need to know about this live stream
A historic corsair harbour
The camera looks out over the Port de Saint-Malo, the maritime heart of one of Brittany's most storied ports. From these quays, corsairs and merchant fleets once sailed toward the South Seas, China and Arabia, and today the same tidal basins host cross-Channel ferries, fishing vessels and yachts.
The granite ramparts of the walled city
Rising behind the harbour are the imposing ramparts of the intra-muros city, stretching 1,754 metres of stone laid by the engineer Simรฉon Garangeau to plans conceived by Vauban. Classified a Historic Monument, they rest on the very rock that supports the old town.
Forts and islets across the bay
The wider view takes in the strategic outer defences of the bay โ the Fort National on the Islet rock, the rounded ship-fort of La Conchรฉe, and the tidal islands of the Grand Bรฉ and Petit Bรฉ, all part of Vauban's celebrated fortified perimeter.
A living maritime gateway
Framing both the industrious comings and goings of the port and the timeless silhouette of the ramparts, this vantage captures Saint-Malo as a genuine gateway between the walled city and the open sea.
