A Pacific Flyway Stopover
This camera overlooks a seasonal wetland pond within a premier refuge on the Pacific Flyway, one of the great migratory corridors of North America. The shallow water and surrounding mudflats form a crucial resting and feeding ground for birds moving along the Central Valley of California.
Waterfowl and Shorebirds
Vast flocks of Snow Geese, Ross's Geese and Northern Pintails gather here, while sandpipers, dowitchers and avocets probe the mud. The refuge also shelters herons, egrets and resident wildlife such as black-tailed deer and coyotes.
A Living Wetland
The pond reflects the rhythm of the Central Valley's wetlands, a landscape shaped by water management and conservation. It offers a peaceful window onto one of California's most important habitats for migratory birds and the ecosystem that sustains them.
