A Working Conservation Campus
Operated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the National Conservation Training Center sits on wooded grounds overlooking the Potomac River valley in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. The campus trains wildlife professionals from across the country while also hosting one of the agency's longest-running nest camera networks.
A Sycamore Nest with History
The resident bald eagle pair has nested in this sycamore tree grove for over two decades, rebuilding after storms and raising generations of eaglets. Camera 1 frames the wide northward view from the treetop, capturing the surrounding canopy and the valley beyond.
Seasonal Nesting Behavior
Through the nesting season the adults add fresh sticks and grass, incubate their eggs, and later shuttle food to growing eaglets. Patient viewers can watch courtship, incubation, hatching, and eventual fledging unfold in real time against the forested backdrop.
A Public Conservation Resource
The feed supports the Service's broader mission of public wildlife education, pairing the live view with seasonal broadcasts and classroom programming that connect students nationwide to raptor conservation in action.
