An Unlikely Wildlife Refuge

The Raccoon Saloon began as an ordinary hunting camp in rural Maine, used only a few times a year by a group of out-of-state hunters. As the owners aged and visits grew rare, the property was left quietly abandoned — and a resourceful family of wild raccoons moved in, turning the empty farmhouse into their own private den.

A Living Room Turned Den

This particular camera looks into the farmhouse's main living room, a cluttered, saloon-themed space furnished with a worn couch, a rustic wooden staircase, and a hanging disco ball above a battered play slide. Rows of food bowls line a well-worn rug, while a mounted deer skull, taxidermy pieces, and a hand-painted "Raccoon Saloon" bucket give the room its offbeat, tavern-like character.

The living room view is just one of many fixed cameras placed around the Raccoon Saloon grounds, each watching a different room or corner of the property.
