Iwai Bridge over the Hōki River
OnlineThis official live camera overlooks the Iwai Bridge where it spans the Hōki River in Sakuyama, a riverside district of Otawara. The broad, gravel-braided channel winds beneath the bridge's concrete piers, edged by grassy embankments and open parkland. Everything you need to know about this live stream
The Iwai Bridge
Carrying the old Ōshū Kaidō route (Tochigi Prefectural Road 48), the Iwai Bridge stretches across the river on a line of sturdy concrete piers. Its low, functional span is a familiar local crossing linking the neighbourhoods of Sakuyama on either bank.
The Hōki River
The Hōki River (Hōkigawa) flows down from the Nasu highlands toward the Naka River, of which it is a major tributary. Here its wide, stony bed splits into shifting braided channels, a classic profile of a fast mountain-fed Japanese river.
Sakuyama and Otawara
The bridge sits in Sakuyama, a historic post town in the south of Otawara, Tochigi. Once a stop on the old highway, the area blends quiet farmland, riverside parks and a small castle-town heritage.
A river-monitoring view
Operated by the city of Otawara, this camera serves as an official river-monitoring viewpoint, keeping a continuous watch on the river's flow and water level for the community along its banks.
