Hula Nature Reserve Bird Cam
OnlineThis live feed looks out over the wetlands of the Hula Nature Reserve, a remnant marshland of the historic Hula Valley swamps and one of the Middle East's most vital stopovers for migrating Eurasian cranes and great white pelicans. Beyond the reed-lined shoreline, golden jackals, wild boar, and Egyptian mongoose roam the reserve's quiet grasslands, protected in partnership with the Israel Nature and Parks Authority.
About This Webcam
Everything you need to know about this live stream
A Wetland Reborn in the Galilee
The Hula Nature Reserve sits where a shallow lake once met the marshes of the Hula Valley, a wetland drained in the 1950s and later partly restored to preserve one of Israel's rarest habitats. The camera looks across open water and grassy banks that today form a protected haven at the heart of the Upper Galilee.
A Crossroads for Migrating Birds
Few sites in the region rival Hula as a stopover on the great Africa-Eurasia flyway. Thousands of Eurasian cranes and great white pelicans pause here on their seasonal journeys, alongside herons, storks, and countless waterfowl that feed and roost along the reed beds.
Mammals of the Reserve
Beyond the birdlife, the reserve shelters a discreet population of mammals: golden jackals patrol the grasslands, while wild boar and Egyptian mongoose move through the reeds and open fields surrounding the water.
A Research and Conservation Partnership
The stream is maintained by the Charter Group of Wildlife Ecology โ a collaboration between the Shamir Research Institute and the University of Haifa's Department of Geography and Environmental Science โ working alongside the Israel Nature and Parks Authority to study and safeguard this remote corner of the reserve.
