Houbihu's Protected Reef
Houbihu sits at the southern tip of Taiwan, a natural harbor tucked against the edge of Kenting National Park. Its shallow fringing reef is one of Taiwan's most closely watched coral ecosystems, a shelf of coral rubble, seagrass and tide pools that emerges as the water recedes.
A Marine Safety Watchpost
The feed is run by Taiwan's National Academy of Marine Research under its GoOcean program, a nationwide network of coastal cameras that tracks swell, tide and water conditions to keep divers, snorkelers and paddlers informed before they enter the water.
Gateway to the Reef
Just beyond the frame, glass-bottom boats and dive charters set out daily from Houbihu Harbor toward the surrounding reef, one of southern Taiwan's most popular access points for snorkeling and shore diving.
