A Coral-Reef Coastline

Houbihu sits on the southwestern edge of Taiwan's Hengchun Peninsula, where shallow fringing coral reefs build a wide, rocky intertidal platform along the shore. At low water the reef flats, channels and tide pools are laid bare, while a narrow band of pale sand separates the reef from the coastal scrub above.

Marine Observation at Houbihu

The stream is run as a marine-observation feed by Taiwan's national ocean research community, framing the open sea, the reef edge and the sky above the water. It offers a steady, real-world look at sea state and coastal conditions along this exposed stretch of shoreline.

Kenting & the Hengchun Peninsula

Houbihu lies within the wider Kenting area, Taiwan's subtropical southern tip, famed for clear water, snorkeling reefs and a small fishing harbor. The surrounding hills and headlands of the peninsula rise behind the bay, with distant promontories visible across the water.
