A Living Stretch of the Vendée Coast

The view captures the tidal rock platforms below the Feu de Grosse Terre lighthouse, a stretch of the Côte de Lumière shaped by centuries of erosion. At low water the flat reefs and pools are exposed, while the rising tide reclaims them.

The Grosse Terre Headland

Atop the low cliffs runs a coastal footpath bordered by maritime pines and hardy scrubland. The headland is a classic Atlantic promontory and one of the most photographed viewpoints around Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez.

The Bay and the Beaches Beyond

Across the inlet the camera frames the broad sandy beach toward Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, with the harbour breakwater and seaside town visible on the far shore. It is a panoramic sweep of one of the Vendée's busiest resort coastlines.
