Fanchuanbi Grassland, Green Island
OnlinePerched on the southeastern tip of Green Island, this cape's rolling green plateau has earned it the nickname the island's "grass carpet." Its volcanic cliffs drop straight into the Pacific Ocean, framing an open horizon where the silhouette of Orchid Island can appear far to the south on clear days.
Below the bluff, the rare Zhaori seawater hot spring traces the tidal rocks, while the surrounding reef and turquoise shallows make this a protected coastal reserve prized above and below the waterline.

Green Island's Grass Carpet
Fanchuanbi Grassland forms the southeastern headland of Green Island (Lรผdao), a small volcanic island off Taiwan's Pacific coast. A short trail from the hot-spring entrance climbs onto this flat, wind-swept plateau, whose unbroken green turf has given it a reputation as the island's natural carpet.
Cliffs Above the Pacific
The cape's basalt cliffs fall directly into the open ocean, offering a wide, uninterrupted view where sea and sky meet. On clear days, the silhouette of Orchid Island rises on the southern horizon, and the coastline curves northward toward the dramatic rock formations of Haicanping.
Zhaori Hot Spring Below
Looking down from the bluff, visitors can trace the pools of the Zhaori seawater hot spring, one of only a few marine geothermal springs in the world, set right at the tideline among volcanic rock.
A Protected Coastal Reserve
The surrounding waters form part of a marine conservation zone prized for its coral reefs, making Fanchuanbi as significant beneath the surface as it is above it. The camera is maintained by Taiwan's East Coast National Scenic Area Administration.
