Eryanping Trail Sea of Clouds

A High-Altitude Vantage Point

The camera sits at 1,433 meters on the Eryanping Trail, part of the Alishan National Scenic Area in Chiayi County. A roughly fifty-minute loop trail winds past bamboo forests, oddly-shaped rock outcrops, and manicured tea terraces before reaching this open viewing platform.

The Famous Sea of Clouds

This stretch of the Alishan range is renowned among photographers for its dramatic cloud inversions, when a thick blanket settles below the ridgeline and rolls across the valley like a slow-motion tide. Even without the inversion, the platform commands a wide view stretching toward the Chiayi-Tainan Plain.

A Landscape of Lakes and Distant Peaks

On clear days the outlook extends toward Renyi Lake and the Lantan Reservoir, with the silhouette of the Yushan mountain range visible to the east. The surrounding hillsides are checkered with the region's celebrated high-mountain tea plantations.
