ECAD Service Dog Training Class

Inside East Coast Assistance Dogs

This live view opens the doors of ECAD's training center, a nonprofit campus in northwestern Connecticut dedicated to raising and training service dogs for people living with physical disabilities, PTSD, and other conditions.

A Working Classroom

Rows of raised platforms, ramps, and traffic cones turn the hall into a canine obstacle course. ECAD's Canine Instructors lead small groups of dogs-in-training through balance, targeting, and focus exercises that build the muscle memory a future service dog will rely on for a lifetime.

From Puppy to Partner

Most of the dogs seen here are Golden Retrievers and Labrador mixes bred and raised specifically for this program, progressing week by week from basic obedience toward the advanced tasks — retrieving dropped items, opening doors, providing balance support — that define a certified service dog.

A Nationwide Mission

ECAD places its graduates with veterans, children, and adults with disabilities across the United States, at no cost to the recipient, and this camera lets viewers everywhere witness the training journey firsthand.
