Anan Bear Cam: Lower Falls & Caves
OnlineWatch brown and black bears fish for salmon at the Lower Falls of Anan Creek, one of the few places on Earth where both species gather to feast. The tumbling cascade funnels spawning salmon into a tight channel, drawing bears that wade, dive, and wait inside the streamside caves. Bald eagles, ravens, and otters share in the abundance along this wild creek bank in the Tongass.

The Anan Wildlife Observatory
Tucked deep in the Tongass National Forest south of Wrangell, the Anan Wildlife Observatory overlooks one of Alaska's richest salmon runs. This remote viewing site is reachable only by boat or floatplane, and its cameras bring the untouched rainforest creek to viewers everywhere.
Bears at the Lower Falls
The camera frames the Lower Falls and streamside caves, where bears stake out favorite fishing spots. Watch them jockey for position, snatch salmon mid-leap, or retreat into the caves to wait for fish to swim past โ a rare chance to see both brown and black bears feeding side by side.
A Salmon-Fueled Ecosystem
The pink and chum salmon surging up Anan Creek feed far more than bears. Bald eagles, ravens, crows, otters, and the occasional wolf gather along the banks, turning the falls into a stage for one of the great wildlife spectacles of the Pacific Northwest.
Tongass National Forest
At nearly 17 million acres, the Tongass is the largest national forest in the United States and the heart of the world's largest temperate rainforest. This camera operates through an agreement with the forest, offering a window into a pristine corner of Southeast Alaska.
