Location and Geography
Washington County lies in the Great Appalachian Valley of northeast Tennessee, crossed by the Nolichucky River in the south and reaching Boone Lake, on the Watauga and South Fork Holston rivers, in the north. Johnson City, its largest city, forms with Kingsport and Bristol the Tri-Cities region.
