Malta
Temples and Fortresses
Malta covers just 316 square kilometres, yet its history runs deep: the megalithic temples of ฤ gantija, on Gozo, are older than the pyramids of Egypt. The capital, Valletta, was built by the Knights of St. John after the Great Siege of 1565, and the whole city is listed by UNESCO.
Golden Bay
The camera looks over Golden Bay, one of the few sandy beaches on the island, set between low cliffs and terraced fields in the northwest, close to Gฤงajn Tuffieฤงa bay. Because it faces west, it is one of the best places on Malta to watch the sun go down into the sea, and the view fills with swimmers and sunbeds through the long summer.
Sun and Wind
Malta gets around 300 days of sunshine a year, with hot, dry summers and mild winters. In the colder months, the northeasterly gregale can drive heavy seas against the coast, and the cameras show a very different, wind-whipped bay.
