The Setting

Golden Bay, known in Maltese as Ramla tal-Mixquqa, is one of the largest sandy beaches in the Maltese archipelago. It lies on the northwest coast near the village of Mellieħa, sheltered between low clay hills that give the bay its distinctive amphitheatre shape.

What You Can See

The camera delivers a sweeping panorama of the reddish-gold sand and the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Rows of colourful umbrellas, swimmers and small craft fill the bay, while the rocky headland to one side frames the open horizon.

The Surrounding Coast

Golden Bay sits beside the wilder, undeveloped Għajn Tuffieħa bay, with the protected Majjistral Nature and History Park stretching along the cliffs. Walking trails connect the two beaches across the garigue-covered ridges typical of northern Malta.
