The Eagle Nest
This camera overlooks the nest of a pair of white-tailed eagles (Haliaeetus albicilla), built low on a steeply leaning, 120-year-old pine about 18 metres above the forest floor. The site has been occupied by eagles for several years and once belonged to black storks. Members of the Committee for the Protection of Eagles fixed the camera on a neighbouring tree while the birds were away, to avoid disturbing them.
The Resident Pair
The female, Petra, carries ring PJ12 and originates from the Lublin region, while the slightly smaller male, Kamyk, is unringed. Together they tend one of the larger raptor nests in central Poland, raising their young high in the canopy and bringing in fish, waterfowl and other prey.
Conservation in the Łódź Forests
The nest lies within a protected old-growth stand near Piotrków, guarded by designated conservation zones that shield the eagles from disturbance. The stream is part of a long-running Polish programme to protect birds of prey, run by the Committee for the Protection of Eagles.
What You Can See
Viewers gain an unfiltered window into wild eagle behaviour — adults guarding and feeding the brood, the bustle of a busy nest, and the constant vigilance of two of Europe's most powerful raptors over their forest home.
