Waal en Burg Nature Reserve
Managed by the conservation organisation Natuurmonumenten, Waalenburg is a low-lying polder in the heart of Texel. Its brackish grasslands, shallow pools and reed beds make it one of the island's premier breeding and resting grounds for wading birds and waterfowl.
A Living Wadden Landscape
The camera captures the quintessential Texel scene: flat pastures divided by drainage ditches, meandering channels of dark water, and a sky that seems to fill half the frame. This is the classic polder country that defines the Wadden Sea islands of the northern Netherlands.
Natuurvillapark De Waalerburght
The feed is provided from the Natuurvillapark De Waalerburght holiday park beside the tiny village of De Waal, giving an elevated, uninterrupted vantage across the reserve toward the island's interior.
Birdwatching on Texel
Texel is renowned among birdwatchers across Europe, and Waal en Burg is a key site for spotting godwits, lapwings, spoonbills and geese. The wide, quiet expanse offers a window into one of the richest wetland habitats of the Dutch Wadden.
