A Major Water Infrastructure Project

The STEP de Vidy facility, spread across roughly 70,000 square meters at the foot of the Lausanne agglomeration, is the last industrial site of this scale so close to a city center. This camera was installed specifically to let the public follow the plant's ongoing renovation as it unfolds.

Engineering on Display

The view is dominated by large-diameter steel pipes, elevated metal walkways with bright yellow railings, and rows of open treatment basins. Together they form the process backbone of a modern wastewater plant, offering a rare, close-up look at civil and mechanical engineering rarely visible to the public.

A Lakeside Setting

Just beyond the plant's perimeter, a green embankment and stand of trees border the shore of Lake Geneva, framing an industrial scene against a naturally scenic backdrop typical of the Lausanne waterfront.
