A Verreaux's Eagle Eyrie

This live camera frames the stick-built eyrie of a pair of Verreaux's eagles (locally called black eagles), one of Africa's most striking raptors. The nest clings to a granite outcrop, giving an unusually close view of the birds as they reinforce the platform, incubate and raise their young.

The Selati Bushveld

Beyond the nest spreads the Selati Game Reserve, a rugged tract of Lowveld bushveld in northeastern South Africa. Weathered koppies, granite domes and open savanna roll toward the distant hills, a landscape shared by elephant, antelope and a wealth of birdlife.

Conservation in Action

The feed is run by the Selati Wilderness Foundation, whose Verreaux's Eagle Project monitors and protects raptor nests across the reserve. Watching the pair offers a rare window into the breeding behaviour of a species that mates for life and defends a large territory.
