Usk Valley Osprey Nest Cam

A Rare South Wales Eyrie

This camera-monitored osprey nest is the only one of its kind in South Wales, built high in a tree overlooking the Usk Valley within Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. The site sits inside a working arable and pasture farm, showing how raptors and agriculture can share the same ground.

Conservation in Partnership

The stream is run by Usk Valley Ospreys together with the Welsh Government and Wildlife Windows, part of a wider effort to track the return of breeding ospreys to the region. Careful monitoring helps researchers understand nesting success without disturbing the birds.

A Migratory Raptor's Home

Ospreys are fish-eating birds of prey that migrate thousands of miles between Africa and Britain each year to breed. The substantial stick nest, rebuilt and enlarged season after season, sits above open fields and hedgerows typical of the Brecon countryside.

A Living Landscape

Beyond the nest itself, the camera frames a wide sweep of rolling hills, hedgerow-lined fields and woodland that define this corner of the Bannau Brycheiniog uplands, giving viewers a sense of the whole ecosystem the ospreys depend on.
