OnlineLook over the Ura-Kusatsu Jizo quarter, a reborn hot-spring district of Kusatsu Onsen where a timber-and-plaster teahouse sits beside a towering evergreen and a lantern-lined stone path. A Reborn Hot-Spring Quarter
The Ura-Kusatsu district โ literally the back of Kusatsu โ was reimagined as a quiet, art-minded counterpart to the town's bustling central Yubatake. The camera frames a traditional white-plastered building with deep tiled eaves, set against a mature evergreen that anchors the whole composition.
Cafe Tsuki no Kao & Mangado
At the heart of the view stand the Cafe Tsuki no Kao ('Cafe of the Moon's Face') and the Mangado manga hall, a pairing that turns this small plaza into a relaxed gathering point for bathers wandering between the district's open-air baths.
Kusatsu Onsen
One of Japan's three great hot springs, Kusatsu Onsen pours out more natural spa water than any other resort in the country, high in the mountains of northern Gunma. This feed offers a tranquil window onto its lesser-seen back streets.
