This underwater lens dives into Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, where the spring bowl shelters resident West Indian manatees that cannot be released into the wild. The park doubles as a rehabilitation facility for injured or ill animals, offering them a safe and protected home.

The Crystal-Clear Water

Fed by a powerful natural spring, the bowl stays a constant 72°F (22°C) year-round. The remarkable clarity of the freshwater lets viewers watch manatees and schools of fish glide past in vivid detail, an immersive view rarely possible from the surface.

A Warm-Water Refuge

Beyond the resident animals, wild manatees seek out the springs as a vital warm-water sanctuary, gathering where the spring temperature stays stable. The footage captures the serene rhythm of these gentle giants in one of Florida's most important manatee habitats.

Conservation in Partnership

The camera is operated in partnership with the Save the Manatee Club, whose Adopt-A-Manatee program supports the care of these animals. The feed offers a rare intimate glimpse into the lives of a species at the heart of Florida's freshwater ecosystems.
