The Swanage Railway
The Swanage Railway is a lovingly restored heritage line that runs for around six miles between the seaside town of Swanage and the mainline connection at Wareham, threading through the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset. Rebuilt by volunteers after the original branch closed, it is now one of England's most celebrated preserved railways.
Swanage Station
The camera watches over Swanage Station, the southern terminus, with its traditional platforms, sidings, signal gantry and rake of preserved coaching stock. It is a working hub where locomotives are shunted and serviced between departures.
Steam and Diesel Heritage
The line hosts a rotating fleet of vintage steam engines and classic diesels, and its regular galas draw enthusiasts and photographers from across the country to capture the movements around the station throat.
Purbeck Gateway
Beyond the station, trains climb toward Corfe Castle and Norden, making Swanage a gateway to the Jurassic Coast and the dramatic Purbeck landscape.
