The Highest Peak in Southern Vermont
At 3,875 feet, Stratton Mountain is the tallest summit in southern Vermont's Green Mountains. From this ridgetop perch the camera frames a broad panorama of forested hills that unfold toward the Taconic and Berkshire ranges beyond the state line.
The Gondola SkyRide
The red Gondola SkyRide cabins in the foreground shuttle visitors between the base village and the summit year-round. Their steady arc along the steel haul cable gives the view a constant sense of motion against the still backdrop of the valley.
A Four-Season Resort
Stratton Mountain Resort is one of New England's premier destinations, drawing skiers and snowboarders to its ninety-plus trails and welcoming hikers and mountain bikers when the slopes give way to green. The summit deck beside the camera is a favourite spot to take in the sweeping view.
Green Mountain National Forest
The surrounding wilderness belongs to the Green Mountain National Forest, a vast expanse of hardwood and conifer woodland laced with hiking trails. The layered ridgelines visible on the horizon are a signature of Vermont's rugged, forest-covered interior.
