Storks' Recovery Yard at Kozubszczyzna
OnlineThis open-air exercise yard at the Kozubszczyzna stork sanctuary is home to a resident colony of white storks too injured to ever fly again, sharing the grassy paddock with grazing sheep and goats. Woven nest platforms at ground level give the flock a familiar perch beneath the rolling wheat fields of rural Lublin.

A Home for the Flightless
The Kozubszczyzna rehabilitation center, run by a Polish nonprofit dedicated to helping injured white storks, keeps this fenced yard for birds whose wounds never fully heal enough to return to the wild. Roughly a dozen resident storks live out their lives here, protected and fed year-round.
Life in the Open Paddock
Unlike a caged aviary, the yard is an open grassy enclosure the storks share with sheep and goats, creating a relaxed, farmyard atmosphere. Visitors to the livestream can watch the birds preening, foraging, and socializing at ground level, a perspective rarely available with wild storks.
Ground-Level Nest Platforms
Several woven basket nests are set low within the enclosure, giving pairs of storks a place to settle and raise chicks without needing to fly to a rooftop or pole, a practical adaptation for birds that cannot take flight.
Rural Poland Backdrop
Beyond the fence line, the camera frames golden wheat fields and windbreak trees typical of the Lublin Voivodeship countryside, a quiet rural setting outside the city of Lublin.
