About the Statue of Liberty

A gift from the people of France dedicated in 1886, the Statue of Liberty — formally Liberty Enlightening the World — was designed by sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, with its internal framework engineered by Gustave Eiffel. Location

The Statue of Liberty stands on Liberty Island in Upper New York Bay, just southwest of Manhattan and part of the Statue of Liberty National Monument. The island is reached by ferry from Battery Park in Manhattan and Liberty State Park in New Jersey.
