The Sóstó Nature Reserve is a protected wetland bordering the city of Székesfehérvár, where reed beds, open water and marshland form a rich mosaic of habitats. Its name, meaning "salty lake" in Hungarian, reflects the mineral-rich waters that have shaped this landscape for centuries.

A Refuge for Birdlife

Thick stands of common reed crisscross the shallow lake, providing shelter for herons, egrets, ducks and countless migratory species. The reserve's labyrinthine channels and islands make it one of the region's most valuable stopover points for waterbirds.

A View from the Watchtower

This camera looks out from a wooden observation tower that rises above the reed canopy, offering visitors and viewers alike a rare bird's-eye perspective of the marsh below. A small pavilion visible across the water marks one of the reserve's nature trails.
